Smallville (mostly Based on the Show)
After little Kal-El was rocketed to Earth, he landed in the town that Jor-El once visited, Smallville. The town was known for the best cream corn in Kansas (Yeah, not America, just Kansas). He landed in a field. A kindly couple named Jonathan and Martha Kent were driving down the road at the time. The two were well known throughout Smallville, but what people didn't know was that Martha was physically unable to have children, which is what she longed for. They had heard a few minutes before Kal-El came to Earth that there was going to be a meteor shower. But they didn't know that it was going to be the meteor shower that changed their life. There were three different meteors that crashed down before one of them hit about five yards from their truck. The truck instantly flipped over and landed in a field. That's when the couple found little Kal-El.
That night, the two didn't know what to do with the child. They didn't know who he belonged to. All they knew is that he wasn't from around there, or anywhere else on Earth. They hid the spaceship that they found in their storm cellar. While they let little Kal-El play with some toys that they had (Kal-El favored the toy airplane), there was a knock at the door. It was Sheriff Hayes. Jonathan told Martha to take little Kal-El upstairs and out of sight. Hayes asked if everything was alright, making sure none of the livestock was killed and all of the crops were fine. Jonathan told him that everything was fine and dandy. Hayes poked his head over Jonathan's shoulder and saw little Kal-El, running to his little toy airplane. Hayes asked who the little one was. Martha exclaimed, "Clark!" Clark was Martha's maiden name. Jonathan told Hayes that they were adopting. Hayes congratulated them and went on his way.

Clark Kent grew up in Smallville and had the time of his life. Smallville is where he met his friends, such as, Pete Ross, Lana Lang, Chloe Sullivan, and so many more. Smallville is where he learned to use his abilities for mankind. The man who taught him to do good with his abilities was his (adoptive) father, Jonathan Kent. Like Hiram Kent (see Krypton), Jonathan Kent was a nice, respectful, and honest person. And it was great that he had a son, someone to pass on his inspiring ways. Jonathan grew up on a farm with his parents, Hiram and Jessica. They were nice people who only wanted the best for their son. After they died, Jonathan took over the farm. But it was a lonely job. So, in college, he met a woman, Martha Clark. After dating for a while, Jonathan decides to marry Martha. Out of respect for her and her father, Jonathan asked Martha's father, Mr. Clark, if he could take Martha's hand in marriage. Mr. Clark's answer was no. That made Jonathan furious. Long story, short, one thing led to another, and Jonathan ended up punching Mr. Clark in the face. That was the last time Jonathan and Mr. Clark ever spoke. Jonathan married Martha anyway. Years later, Jonathan and Martha Kent found little Kal-El and named him Clark, after Martha's maiden name.
Pete Ross
Clark eventually got older and it was about the time he started high school that he started his destiny. Clark went to Smallville High School. That's where Clark and his best friend, Pete Ross, went to high school. Pete was a huge influence in Superman story line, so pay close attention. Clark met Pete when they were in kindergarten. Pete was the type of guy that liked to party but also knew when to be serious. For the first 11 years that Pete knew Clark, he had no idea that he had abilities beyond any mortal man. But when he did find out, he was in for the surprise of his life. In order for everyone to know how Pete was to know about Clark, we have to go back a year before. Clark, as a teen, was faced with many trials that his father, Jor-El (see Krypton), gave to him. One of the trials he faced were three twisters, with one that sucked up his "wannabe" girlfriend, Lana Lang (see below). The three twisters went all throughout Smallville. And one of the things it sucked up was Clark's spaceship (which was locked up in the Kent farm's storm cellar). After the three twisters, anything that was sucked up by the twister landed in various places. Clark's ship just happened to land on someone's field. That's when it started. Pete was driving down the road one day when the man in front of him dozed off at the wheel. The man swerved and crashed into the field. Pete stopped, got out of his car and went to the man's rescue. Pete got down to the man and got him out of his truck. As Pete was helping him, he noticed the man staring at something. Pete followed the man's eyes to find, none other than, Clark's ship. Pete instantly thought, Alien ship! Gotta tell my best friend, Clark.
Pete dragged Clark to where the ship is. As soon as Clark saw it, he instantly knew what it was. Clark, trying to protect his identity from Pete, told him that it was probably a prop for a movie, or a science project. Pete wouldn't listen. Pete told him that they were going to make big bucks off of the ship. Clark was worried that his secret would be out if Pete told everyone. Clark couldn't tell Pete not to, otherwise Pete would ask a bunch of questions, and Clark couldn't let Pete tell the world that there is an alien on the planet and trace it back to Clark. So, Clark had no other choice. He had to tell Pete everything.

After Clark told Pete, Pete was amazed. Clark telling Pete made Pete's brain go from being scrambled and confused, to organized, and as if all the pieces fit together perfectly. Pete knew and kept Clark's secret for a long time. But it wasn't easy on Pete. Pete had a big mouth. All he liked to do was gossip. But Clark was his best friend and he swore to Clark that he would keep it. And he stuck by that to the end. But the pressure that was on Pete was horrible. Pete's mother was a judge in court. And Pete's parents were having marital problems. Eventually, the two split up and Pete's mom got a job offering in Wichita. Pete's options were: stay in Smallville with his dad, or move to Wichita with his mom. It was a tough decision for Pete. He had to think about everyone. Clark, Lana, Chloe, everyone. He eventually decided to go with his mom. Pete explained to Clark that the main reason why is to protect Clark. To make sure that he won't slip up and tell everyone. Clark understood and decided it was the best and only option they had. Clark, from then on out, blamed himself for Pete leaving.

Chloe Sullivan
Even though Clark's best friend left him behind, Clark was far from being alone. He had other friends, his parents, Lana, and Chloe. Chloe was his best friend that never left him. Chloe Sullivan always thought that Smallville was the weirdest town ever. But that's because she grew up in the lustrous town of Metropolis until she got to high school. Chloe was the best journalist in the city (She's also the reason why Clark Kent works at the Daily Planet. Keep reading to find out). She started out at the school newspaper, The Torch. She wrote tons of articles. Mostly about the (as she says) "strange and bizarre things that happen in Smallville". And she's convinced that it all started with the meteor shower. So, she started making a scrapbook and then it "kinda mutated" (her words). She had tons of newspaper clippings on the wall. She called it "The Wall of Weird." It's every "strange and bizarre" thing that happened since the meteor shower. There were things like people with six fingers, people with weird powers, and so much more. Chloe showed this "Wall of Weird" to Clark. At first, Clark didn't like it. But it did come in handy when he went on one of his rescues. And eventually, he told her about his abilities and had a lot more trust in her.
Chloe was Clark's go-to girl. Any kind of research or information that Clark needed, he would go straight to her. The first 6 years of their friendship, Clark never thought of Chloe as a girl that he would date (even though Chloe was his first kiss, watch Smallville to see). But Chloe was in love with Clark. "I'm the girl of your dreams masquerading as your best friend." -Chloe Sullivan, Smallville Season 2 Episode "Fever" The love eventually died out, and they figured out they were better friends.
Lana Lang
Another one of Clark's friends is Lana Lang. Clark Kent and Lana Lang are the most complicated couple, EVER. Clark met Lana when she moved in next door to him. She didn't pay any attention to him at first. But he paid a lot of attention to her. When he was a kid, he got a telescope from his dad, Jonathan. With it, he would spy on Lana from his barn when she was outside on her porch, which is where she spent most of her time when she was home. Clark badly wanted to be with her. It wasn't until high school that she actually noticed him. But by that time it was too late, so he thought. Once Lana finally started paying attention, they became friends. But Clark never revealed his feelings about her. Mostly because of Whitney, who was Lana's boyfriend. But Whitney could see that Clark liked her. And, out of paranoia, Whitney thought that Lana liked him back. Which wasn't true until Whitney died (Watch the first 2 seasons of Smallville for more info). When Whitney died, it got Lana thinking about her options. She thought Clark was good-looking. So the two eventually started dating.
Lana and Clark dated for about a year. But Clark never told Lana about his powers because of the danger she could be put in, like Pete (see above). And Lana always knew that there was something special about him. But he would never tell her. But when she puts the relationship on the line, he decides to tell, but it goes horribly wrong. Months before, Jonathan decided to run for city council. On the day of the election, Clark decides to tell Lana about his abilities. Clark took her to the Fortress of Solitude and told her everything. The following night, Lana went to her friend, Lex Luthor, to tell him about the wedding. But what she didn't know, was Lex was in love with her. Lex was the other person who was running for city council. When he lost, he got angry and drank, a lot. When Lana arrived and told him, Lex was furious. He chased her all the way out of his mansion and onto the highway. They drove down the rode fast. Lana was distracted by trying to get help, and didn't see a bus coming right for her. The impact killed her.
When Clark heard it, he sped all the way to her. That's when Lex knew about his abilities. Clark tried to save her, but it was no use. So Clark looked to his father, Jor-El. He asked Jor-El if there was anyway for him to travel back in time to stop it from happening. Jor-El told Clark that there was a way, but it could only be used once. He also warned him that it would affect the natural order of things, and if Clark brought someone back from the dead, someone close to him would have to die. Clark didn't listen to his warning. He went back in time and didn't tell Lana about his abilities. But that night, Clark and Martha came home, and Jonathan wobbled to them and died of a heart attack. Clark blamed himself for trying to play God, and that killed his father.
Since Clark didn't tell Lana, she still thought he was keeping secrets and broke up with him. Then got together with Lex Luthor. Lana and Lex dated for a while, then Lex finally asked for her hand in marriage. Lana didn't want to go through with it because she still kind of loved Clark. But, for some strange reason, she still said yes. When Clark heard the news, he was angry. But he knew that it was Lana's decision, so he backed off. Except for the day of the wedding. On the day of the wedding, Clark went to Lana to pour out his heart to her, in hopes that she will change her mind. But right before the fact, Lana figured out his secret. She figured out about his abilities. So her plan was to call off the wedding and get back together with Clark. But Lex's father had a different plan. Lionel Luthor (see Villains) has known Clark's secret for a long time. When Lionel figured out that Lana knew, he told her that if she didn't marry Lex, he would kill Clark. Lana didn't want that to happen, so she married Lex against her will.
Lana didn't know what to do. There were so many secrets, lies, she had to think quick. So after the honeymoon, she got into her car, and it blew up! But it wasn't her in it. Lex had tons of clones of tons of people. One of those people was Lana, just as an experiment. Lana stole the clone Lana and placed her in the car and timed the bomb, so that by the time the car blows up, she'll be gone. Lana moved all the way to China. Lex eventually found her, and she wanted to kill him, but didn't. Lex convinced her to come back, and she went back to Smallville. But didn't want anything to do with Lex. When she got back, Clark told her everything. And Lana told him that she already knew. But she didn't tell him that Lionel threatened her, for his safety.
They were together for a long time. In that time, Lex was putting pieces together. He figured out about Clark's powers. He found the Fortress and destroyed it. Which wasn't very smart because he was in it. Lex was pronounced dead. Clark didn't know whether to be happy or sad for it. Clark didn't like Lex, but he didn't like death either. So, Lana and Clark date for a long time, and she never wanted to leave his side. Even though there was danger around every corner. But, to their surprise, they figured out that Lex wasn't dead. He had been hiding and watching everything. When they finally found him, Lex gave them the ultimate test. Not long before, Lana put on a skin-tight suit called Prometheus. The suit gave anyone who wore it the same powers as Clark. But what they didn't know was that it was also designed to absorb kryptonite (see below). So Lex put two bombs on the roof of the Daily Planet. The bombs were powered by kryptonite. So they only way to stop the bombs would be to have Lana absorb it. But if she absorbed it, Clark wouldn't be able to go near her. But Clark knew what had to be done to protect the people. Lana absorbed the kryptonite and Clark was never able to see her again.
